Voting is underway for the final 40 seats in the third and largest phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections on Tuesday. Unlike the first two phases, this round covers 24 seats in the Jammu division and 16 in Kashmir. The results are scheduled to be announced on October 8.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to participate, saying, “Today is the third and last round of voting in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. I request all voters to come forward and cast their votes to make the festival of democracy a success.” He also expressed confidence that both first-time voters and women would turn out in large numbers. A total of 39.18 lakh voters are eligible to decide the political future of 415 candidates across 40 constituencies.
