Vice President Dhankhar congratulates Gukesh

Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar, today congratulated  D. Gukesh in the Upper House for becoming the youngest World Chess Champion. Gukesh, 18, triumphed over China’s Ding Liren in a thrilling match in Singapore on December 12, setting a historic milestone. Dhankhar hailed the victory as a significant achievement for Indian sports, highlighting Gukesh’s rise as a global chess icon. “This remarkable victory goes beyond the chessboard and symbolizes India’s increasing prominence on the world stage,” he stated. He also emphasized the importance of India’s research and development, which has contributed to the emergence of young talent like Gukesh.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman expressed pride on behalf of the nation, asserting that Gukesh’s triumph embodies the spirit of India’s aspirations and strengthens the country’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics.
