The Sultan of Johor Cup, an annual under-21 hockey tournament, is set to feature top junior teams from around the world. Amir Ali will captain the 18-member Indian junior men’s hockey team in the tournament’s 12th edition, with the squad competing under the guidance of newly appointed head coach, PR Sreejesh, a veteran and former Indian hockey goalkeeper.

India’s journey begins with a clash against Japan on October 19, followed by matchups against Great Britain (Oct 20), hosts Malaysia (Oct 22), Australia (Oct 23), and New Zealand (Oct 25). The top two teams from the group stage will qualify for the final, set for October 26.

Expressing the team’s excitement, Vice-Captain Rohit shared, “Having a legend like PR Sreejesh at the helm has motivated the entire squad. His experience and stature in Indian hockey inspire us, and we’re determined to make him proud in our first tournament under his leadership.”
