India’s Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday announced financial rewards for the nation’s Paralympic medallists at a ceremony celebrating their performance at the Paris Paralympics, which concluded on September 8. Indian athletes secured 29 medals in total, marking a significant achievement.
Gold medallists will receive Rs. 75 lakh, silver medallists Rs. 50 lakh, and bronze medallists Rs. 30 lakh. Athletes competing in mixed team events, such as archer Sheetal Devi, will be awarded Rs. 22.50 lakh.
Mandaviya pledged continued support for para-athletes, aiming for further success at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics. “India’s Paralympic performance is rising steadily—from four medals in 2016 to 19 in Tokyo, and now 29 in Paris, finishing 18th overall,” he said.
