In a significant move toward women’s empowerment, Punjab Police’s Community Policing Division has launched the “Saanjh Rahat Project” to provide psycho-social-legal aid to domestic violence victims. The initiative is in collaboration with the Nai Shuruwat Foundation, with support from the Health Department, Social Security, Women and Child Development (SSWCD) Department, and the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) Punjab, announced DGP Gaurav Yadav on X (formerly Twitter).
The Saanjh Rahat initiative aims to empower women by helping them make informed decisions for a life free from violence. Two dedicated female counselors will assist victims under this program. Initially, the pilot project will be implemented at the Civil Hospital in SAS Nagar, with plans for expansion across Punjab.
“We are committed to building a safer and more empowered future for women in Punjab,” said the DGP, in line with directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
