Drinking from plastic bottles may be harmful to your health. These bottles can raise blood pressure by introducing microscopic plastic particles into your system, according to the journal Microplastics.  A recent study conducted by the Medicine Department at Danube Private University revealed that reduction was seen in the blood pressure levels of participants who stopped drinking from plastic and glass bottles and switched to tap water for two weeks. “Remarkable trends were observed,” the researchers said. “The results suggest that reducing plastic use might lower blood pressure, likely due to fewer plastic particles in the bloodstream,” the news outlet The Outlook reported.

This study followed the previous findings which says that humans ingest about 5 grams of microplastics through fluids packaged in bottles every week. Among the preventive methods to control microplastics from entering the body were boiling and filtering tap water. These methods can reduce the presence of microplastics and nanoplastics by nearly 90 per cent, the news outlet highlighted.
