Sony Pictures has announced Ravi Ahuja, the current chairman of global television and COO, as its next CEO. Ahuja will officially assume the role in January, following the retirement of Tony Vinciquerra, who has been at the helm since 2017, according to the news outlet CNBCTV18. Ahuja, who joined Sony in 2021, will report to Sony Group Chairman Kenichiro Yoshida and CFO Hiroki Totoki.
During his tenure at Sony, Ahuja has overseen the production of successful and award-winning TV series such as The Crown, The Boys, and The Last of Us. He brings extensive experience from his previous positions at Fox networks and Disney. Under Vinciquerra’s leadership, Sony Pictures achieved five years of consecutive profit growth, including the acquisition of Crunchyroll and a strategic streaming partnership with Netflix, avoiding the high costs of launching a proprietary streaming platform, the news outlet reported.
