Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized India’s defensive stance on Saturday, stating that the country has never attacked any nation out of hatred. “We fight only when our integrity and sovereignty are threatened,” he  said. Speaking at the Sukna Military Station in West Bengal during the Dussehra celebrations, the Defence Minister performed the traditional Shastra Pooja, highlighting the respect for weapons as symbols of national defense. He  underscored that India’s armed forces are committed to safeguarding peace and values, but will act decisively if provoked.

The Defence Minister praised the military’s vigilance in maintaining border security, aligning the festival’s symbolism of good triumphing over evil with the role of the Armed Forces. The event featured prayers for modern military equipment, including infantry, artillery, drones, and communication systems, reflecting the blend of tradition and cutting-edge defense platforms.

Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, senior military officials, and dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
