Punjab’s government is set to take strict action against drug dealers and their accomplices, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced in Malout today. She called upon village sarpanches, panches, and local leaders to collaborate in eliminating drug abuse and ensuring the safety of the younger generation. Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized the collective responsibility of society to eradicate drugs and urged village leaders to report drug peddlers to the police and administration. She highlighted the government’s commitment to free treatment for drug addicts at state-run hospitals, aiming to support their recovery and reintegration.
At the event, sarpanches and panches from Malout passed resolutions against drugs, pledging full cooperation with the government in tackling the menace in their communities.
The Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur directed the police to implement stringent measures to curb drug activities, stressing that the protection of youth from addiction is a top priority. She also urged communities to avoid supporting drug dealers and to actively raise awareness about the consequences of drug abuse.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders, including Cooperative Society Chairman Jagdev Singh Bam, DSP Iqbal Singh, and other officials, alongside village representatives.
