Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Tuesday met a group of 30 girl students from schools and colleges in Chandigarh and Mohali, encouraging them to aim high and contribute to the nation by becoming responsible citizens. The students, affiliated with a voluntary organization focused on public welfare, visited the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to learn about legislative processes.
During the interaction, Sandhwan urged the students to consider careers as politicians, IAS and PCS officers, doctors, scientists, and business leaders. He emphasized that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and noted the growing interest among youth in politics as a positive trend.
Sandhwan encouraged students interested in politics to stay informed about legal, political, and social events across the state and the country. “Every phenomenon in the country is tied to politics,” he said, adding that youth participation could significantly transform governance.
In a memorable moment, Radhika, a fifth-grade student from Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh, expressed her aspiration to become the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Sandhwan invited her to sit on the Speaker’s chair, giving her and the group a hands-on experience of the legislative process, including insights into the roles of the ruling party and opposition.
