Indian para athlete Preethi Pal made history on September 1 by becoming the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win two medals at the Paralympics. On Sunday, she secured a bronze in the 200m T35 category with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds. The T35 classification is designated for athletes with coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia, and athetosis.
Prior to winning her silver at Paris, she also managed to secure a bronze medal on August 30 in the Paralympic track event, making it India’s first ever athletic medal in that category. She won a bronze in the women’s T35 100m competition, which she secured with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.
