Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. “Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law,” the Prime Minister said in his post on X previously known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has called on the Canadian government to take immediate action following an attack on the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, which it attributed to extremist and separatist elements.
“We condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by extremists and separatists at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario yesterday,” said MEA official spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, in a statement on Monday.
India asked Canada to ensure robust protection for all places of worship and demanded the prosecution of those responsible for the violence. “We also expect that those indulging in violence will be prosecuted,” Jaiswal added.
The spokesperson expressed concern over the safety and security of Indian nationals in Canada, emphasizing that the intimidation, harassment, and violence would not hinder the outreach of consular services for Indians and Canadian citizens alike.
