Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation in Himachal Pradesh, where multiple cloudbursts have caused significant devastation. Reports indicate that four people have died, and 50 are missing following these incidents, which have impacted the districts of Kullu, Shimla, and Mandi on Thursday. The Prime Minister has instructed senior officials to provide all possible assistance to those affected by the disaster.
The Malana 2 Power Project in Kullu’s Parvati Valley also suffered significant damage from one of the cloudbursts last night. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu shared the news on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing deep concern over the incident. He mentioned that the affected areas include Rampur tehsil in Shimla, Padhar tehsil in Mandi, and the villages of Jaon and Nirmand in Kullu.
Chief Minister Sukhu provided details on the ongoing response efforts, stating that teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Police, Home Guard, and Fire Services are actively involved in relief, search, and rescue operations. He emphasized that the local administration has been directed to conduct these operations efficiently and assured that the state government is fully committed to providing all necessary assistance. The Chief Minister is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with officials to ensure a swift response.
