Over 46% Users Experience ‘Basket Sneaking’ While Using Food Delivery Apps: Survey

A recent survey by LocalCircles has revealed that over 46% of users have encountered ‘basket sneaking’ while using food delivery apps. This practice involves unauthorised additions of subscriptions, services, or products to customers’ carts without their consent. The survey gathered responses from nearly 11,000 users, highlighting significant concerns about transparency and accountability in food delivery platforms.

The survey, which collected input from 32,000 users across 249 districts, also highlighted other prevalent issues. Approximately 69% of the 10,859 respondents reported experiencing ‘bait and switch’ tactics. This occurs when the estimated delivery time provided before placing an order significantly differs from the actual delivery time.

Additionally, hidden charges were a major concern for 68% of the 10,844 respondents, who reported encountering undisclosed fees associated with their orders. These findings underscore the need for clearer communication and better practices within the food delivery industry to enhance user experience and trust.
