Wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s appeal for a silver medal, following her disqualification from the Women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) ad-hoc division on Wednesday. “The application filed by Vinesh Phogat on 7 August 2024 is dismissed,” CAS stated in its decision.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA)IOA President PT Usha has expressed disappointment with the Sole Arbitrator’s decision. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) voiced its support for Phogat and is currently considering legal options to ensure her case is thoroughly examined, IOA said in its official statement.
