Nipah Virus Detected in Kerala Bats

The Nipah virus has been found in bat samples from Pandikkad, Kerala’s Malappuram district, following the death of a 14-year-old boy on June 21, as reported by The Tribune.

Health Minister Veena George reported that antibodies were detected in six out of 27 fruit bat samples collected within a 5 km radius. Tests on 472 people in contact with the infected individual were negative, with 261 completing the 21-day isolation period.
