Passengers aboard the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express narrowly escaped danger when the train’s coupling broke near the Repura railway crossing in Samastipur district. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. between Karpoori Gram and Pusa railway stations under the Sonpur division. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as reported by the news outlet NDTV.
The train’s coupling failure caused the engine and over 10 bogies to separate from the rest of the train, traveling a few kilometers ahead. The train’s guard quickly alerted the driver to stop, and senior officials at the Samastipur railway station and the Divisional Railway Manager’s office in Sonpur were notified.
An inquiry has been launched to investigate the incident, as trains are typically allowed to run only after thorough technical inspections. Senior officials and technical teams arrived promptly, reconnecting the engine and bogies. After a brief one-hour delay, the train continued its journey to Delhi. The Bihar Sampark Kranti Express operates between Darbhanga and Delhi.
