Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) anticipated historic win in the state elections. Modi is expected to address BJP workers and supporters later this evening. Alongside Home Minister Amit Shah, Modi spearheaded the BJP’s campaign, emphasizing development achievements in Haryana and across India, while countering opposition narratives of anti-incumbency.

Saini secured his Ladwa assembly seat, defeating Congress candidate Mewa Singh by a margin of 16,054 votes, with Saini receiving 70,177 votes to Singh’s 54,123.

Speaking to the media, Saini thanked the people of Ladwa and Haryana’s 2.8 crore residents, attributing the victory to Modi’s leadership. “The people of Haryana have endorsed PM Modi’s policies,” Saini said.

According to early polling trends from the Election Commission, the BJP is leading in 50 seats, with Congress ahead in 35. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is leading in two seats, and independents in three.

Voter turnout reached 67.9%, up from 64.8% in the last Lok Sabha elections, though urban constituencies showed lower participation, with turnout rates 10% below the state average.
