Unanimously elected as the next Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council, Shah, 35, will assume the role from Greg Barclay on December 1 this year. Despite the global popularity of T20I cricket, Shah is determined to ensure that Test cricket continues to thrive and remains a cornerstone of the sport.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the ICC’s Member Boards for placing their trust in me for this prestigious role as Chair of the ICC. I assure you that I will do everything possible to elevate the standard of our game across the globe,” said Shah.

In addition to championing Test cricket, Shah will play a pivotal role in reintroducing cricket to the Olympics at the Los Angeles Games in 2028. The current BCCI secretary is also committed to ensuring that women’s and differently-abled cricket receive the attention and support they deserve.
