India defeats Afghanistan by 47 runs in a commanding performance

In a thrilling Super-8 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, India emerged victorious against Afghanistan by 47 runs at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India posted a competitive total of 181/8 in their allotted 20 overs, fueled by impactful innings from Suryakumar Yadav (53 off 28 balls) and Hardik Pandya (32 off 24 balls).

Afganistan managed to put up a good fight, with Azmatullah Omarzai scoring 26 off 20 balls (Afganistan’s top scorer), followed by Najibullah Zadran, who scored 19 off 17 balls. But they also faced a tough challenge from Indian bowlers, with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh taking 3 wickets each to restrict Afghanistan to 134 all out in 20 overs. Despite a spirited effort, Afghanistan fell short of the target set by India.

India’s victory not only secured their unbeaten record in the tournament but also showcased their depth in both the batting and bowling departments. With this win, India strengthens their position in Group 1 of the Super-8 stage, keeping their hopes high for advancing further in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. India will next be playing against Bangladesh on June 22 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, while Afghanistan will be playing against Australia on June 23 at the Arnos Vale Stadium.
