Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey confirmed on Sunday that India will host the Women’s Hockey India League (HIL) for the first time, marking a significant milestone in Indian hockey. “Tirkey highlighted the pivotal role of the Odisha government in advancing the sport, referring to it as the “backbone” of Hockey India’s success'” Quoting a news agency, The Times Now News reported. “Our future plans include the Hockey India League, which is a crucial platform not just for young players but also for emerging coaches. This year, for the first time, we will be hosting the Women’s HIL, which is a major step forward. Our current focus is on ensuring the success of both the men’s and women’s leagues,” said Tirkey.
