Nine people, including eight members of a family from Himachal Pradesh, lost their lives, and two others went missing after their vehicle was swept away by the flooded Jaijon Choe, a seasonal rivulet in Punjab. The Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was carried away by the swollen waters in the Mahilpur block of Hoshiarpur district due to heavy rainfall that hit several parts of Punjab and surrounding areas. According to media reports, the mishap took place as eleven members of the family, along with their driver, were traveling in the SUV from Dehra near Mehatpur in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district to Mehrowal village in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district to attend a wedding.
In addition to it, flash floods and landslides severely disrupted life in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, with Una district among the worst affected. In Bathu Bathri village, three people lost their lives, including a seven-year-old girl from Bihar, and one person remains missing.
