A former Member of Parliament from Punjab made a controversial remark targeting BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in response to her comments suggesting that the farmers’ agitation could have escalated into a situation similar to the law and order crisis in Bangladesh, The Hindustan Times reported.

Simranjit Singh Mann, the leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), made a highly objectionable statement about Kangana Ranaut, implying that she has extensive knowledge about rape. Mann reportedly said, “You can ask her (Kangana Ranaut) how rape happens so that people can understand. She has a lot of experience of rape,” as quoted by India Today. The claim remains unverified by Hindustan Times.

Kangana Ranaut, a prominent actor-turned-politician, recently asserted in an interview that the farmers’ protest, which was against the now-repealed three farm laws, could have led to a scenario similar to the one in Bangladesh if not for strong leadership in India. In a video posted on social media platform X, she claimed that “bodies were seen hanging, and rapes were taking place” during the protests and accused foreign powers such as China and the United States of being behind the unrest.
