Ensuring better civic amenities for citizens is Punjab gov’t’s top priority: Dr. Ravjot Singh

The Punjab government is steadfast in its mission to enhance civic amenities for residents across the state. Punjab Local Government Minister, Dr. Ravjot Singh, affirmed during a recent review meeting that all development projects are progressing on schedule, with ample funding allocated to ensure timely completion.

At the Municipal Bhawan, Dr. Ravjot Singh, along with Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, reviewed ongoing projects with key officials. Representatives from the Municipal Corporation Phagwara, Additional Deputy Commissioners from districts such as Ferozepur, Moga, Kapurthala, and Nawanshahr, as well as executive officers of various Nagar Panchayats, participated in the discussions.

Dr. Ravjot Singh stressed the government’s commitment to improving urban cleanliness and amenities. He directed officials to maintain strict sanitation standards and prevent the buildup of garbage by implementing door-to-door waste collection and scientific disposal methods. Additionally, he emphasized regular maintenance of sewer systems to avoid overflow and called for the use of suction machines to keep the sewerage lines clear.

Ensuring access to safe drinking water was another key priority. Dr. Ravjot Singh instructed that all efforts be made to prevent water contamination, with drinking water supplies kept separate from sewerage at all times.

The meeting, attended by relevant MLAs and senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh, Director of Local Government Gurpreet Singh Khaira, and PMIDC CEO Deepti Uppal, underscored the Punjab government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in urban areas.
