Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Wednesday directed the Mass Education and Media (MEM) wing of his department to intensify health awareness campaigns aimed at reaching grassroots communities. During a meeting on Wednesday, Dr. Balbir Singh emphasised the importance of mass communication as a crucial tool for disease prevention and control. He urged MEM officials to ensure accurate information is disseminated to the public and that educational activities are conducted throughout Punjab.
“The MEM officials act as the eyes and ears of the department,” Dr. Singh stated, highlighting the government’s expectation for them to effectively relay health information while maintaining a smooth internal flow of communication.
Referring to the ongoing “Har Shukarvaar, Dengue Te Vaar” campaign, Dr. Singh noted a decline in dengue cases compared to previous years, attributing this positive trend to the state’s proactive awareness efforts.
The forthcoming awareness campaign will focus on preventing both communicable and non-communicable diseases. The government plans to utilize food safety vans to combat food adulteration across all districts, further informing the public about health and safety.
Kumar Rahul, Administrative Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, and other key officials were present at the meeting, indicating a unified commitment to enhancing public health initiatives in the state.
