India’s E-Daakhil portal, an online system for filing consumer grievances, has achieved full nationwide coverage with its rollout in Ladakh on November 22, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution announced. The milestone makes E-Daakhil accessible in all states and union territories, cementing its status as a pan-India initiative.  Introduced amid COVID-19 restrictions in September 2020, the E-Daakhil portal provides an affordable, efficient, and user-friendly platform for filing complaints under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, enforced on July 20, 2020. “The portal eliminates the need for physical presence, offering a seamless and transparent grievance redressal process,” the ministry stated.

Users can register using OTP-based verification or email authentication, enabling them to file complaints, pay fees, and track case statuses from their homes. Designed to ensure consumer rights and timely justice, the portal has been a “game-changer” in consumer protection. Launched initially by the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, E-Daakhil expanded to 35 states and UTs by late 2023. Its recent activation in Ladakh, inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), underscores the government’s commitment to improving accessibility for consumers nationwide.
