Haryana’s elections are just a month away, and political parties are intensifying their campaign efforts. A significant topic of discussion is whether Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will extend their alliance from the recent Lok Sabha elections to the Assembly polls. Congress Leader and Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, is said to be keen on forming the alliance with AAP, according to the media reports. When asked about the potential for an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Deepak Babaria, AICC General Secretary in charge of the state, informed the media, “We are currently in discussions with the AAP, but no agreements have been reached yet. We will update you as soon as something is finalized.” In response to another query, Babaria emphasized, “Our primary goal is to defeat the BJP and ensure that votes are not divided.”

On the other hand, in a recent interview with NDTV, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda clarified that no discussions have taken place regarding an alliance between Congress and AAP. “The alliance was formed at a national level. We have not engaged in any talks with them here. The main contest in Haryana is between the BJP and Congress,” he stated. During the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, Congress secured five seats in Haryana, a notable improvement from 2019 when the BJP won all 10 seats. AAP, on the other hand, did not win any seats in the state in the recent general elections.
