Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday lauded the state’s Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTM) as a vital initiative, allowing parents to engage directly with schools and monitor their children’s progress. Speaking at a PTM event, Mann emphasized that the meetings give parents insight into the school environment and help teachers understand students’ habits and family backgrounds.
Mann highlighted that education is a top priority for the Punjab government, noting a transformation in government schools, which have become “temples of modern learning.” He added that many students are now switching from private schools to government institutions, such as Schools of Eminence, following entrance exams.
During the event, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and MP Malwinder Singh Kang joined Mann in interacting with students and parents. Attendees praised the government’s educational reforms, which they said have bridged socio-economic gaps.
Parents shared success stories of their children. Mehak Sharma, a farmer’s daughter aspiring to be a cardiologist, and Prachi, a former convent student, both praised the Schools of Eminence for their support. Other parents highlighted free textbooks, facilities, and coaching programs aimed at helping underprivileged students achieve their dreams.
Students also expressed their gratitude for the opportunities provided by the government, from free coaching for NDA exams to improved school infrastructure and transportation.
