Chiranjeev Rao, Rewari MLA and son of Congress veteran Capt Ajay Singh Yadav, has expressed his aspiration to become the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana if the Congress secures victory in the upcoming Assembly elections. Despite being a first-term MLA, Chiranjeev has a significant political lineage, as he is also the son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, as reported by the news outlet The Tribune.

An active Youth Congress leader and close associate of Rahul Gandhi, Chiranjeev made headlines in 2019 when he narrowly defeated a BJP-backed candidate in Rewari. He believes his political experience and dedication to serving the people of Ahirwal and Rewari make him deserving of the Deputy CM position.

Chiranjeev’s claim is aligned with recent comments by LoP Bhupinder Singh Hooda about the possibility of appointing four Deputy CMs, one from the OBC community. However, his demand has caused some tension within the Congress, particularly due to the known differences between his father and Hooda.
