Chaos erupted in the Rajya Sabha after Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday revealed that security officials discovered a bundle of cash on a seat allotted to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi during an anti-sabotage check following Thursday’s adjournment. Chairman Dhankhar disclosed that the currency was recovered from seat number 222, currently assigned to Singhvi, and that an investigation is underway. “I carry one ₹500 note when I go to RS. I was in the House for three minutes and in the canteen for 30 minutes. This is bizarre politics,” Singhvi wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), vehemently denying the allegations.

The BJP seized on the incident, with MP Sudhanshu Trivedi alleging financial negligence by Congress. “Congress leaders have so much money they don’t account for what’s left behind. This raises serious doubts and demands investigation,” Trivedi stated. The matter has intensified political tensions, with calls for transparency and accountability.
