Apple has officially announced the launch of its latest products, including the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which now join the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus previously introduced. These high-end models boast superior screens and cameras compared to their standard counterparts.
The iPhone 16 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes with a larger 6.9-inch display, up from the previous models’ 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens. Apple claims these models have the “thinnest borders on any Apple product,” describing them as the “best iPhone displays ever.” The new titanium build, nearly half the weight of stainless steel, is touted as more scratch-resistant than other titanium variants.
Available finishes include white, black, natural, and “desert.” Apple also noted that the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers the best battery life of any iPhone, though specific details were not disclosed.
The new Pro models are powered by the A18 Pro chip, featuring second-generation 3-nanometer transistors and a 16-core neural engine designed to enhance Apple Intelligence, particularly for generative AI tasks. The chip delivers a 17% increase in overall system memory bandwidth, making it even faster and more efficient than its predecessor, the A18.
Camera enhancements include a 48-megapixel “fusion camera” that processes data twice as fast, along with a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera for detailed wide-angle shots. The 5x telephoto lens further improves zoom photo quality. Additionally, the devices offer 4K video recording at 120 frames per second, marking the highest resolution and frame rate for an iPhone camera to date.
Equipped with four “studio-quality” microphones that reduce noise, the Pro models are optimized for vocal and acoustic recordings, with added spatial audio capabilities. The innovative “Audio Mix” feature uses machine learning to differentiate and isolate background sounds from speech, making it an industry first.
An upcoming update to Voice Memos will enable users to layer tracks over previously recorded memos, a feature especially beneficial for musicians testing out song arrangements by overlaying instruments like guitars onto vocal tracks.
Pricing for the iPhone 16 Pro starts at INR 1,19,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max begins at INR 1,44,900. Preorders will be available starting Friday, with in-store sales commencing on September 20.
