Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur has sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments on the Mahabharata and Chakravyuh. According to the news outlet the Economic Times reports, Thakur accused Gandhi of being an “accidental Hindu” with a superficial understanding of the Mahabharata. Thakur challenged Gandhi’s grasp of the epic, suggesting that if Gandhi hadn’t read the Mahabharata, he could at least consult Shashi Tharoor’s novel, “The Great Indian Novel,” for better insights. This criticism was in response to Gandhi’s speech on July 29, where he referenced the Chakravyuh in his address.
The news outlet report further said that Thakur took a jibe at the opposition during a discussion on the budget, questioning their knowledge of the Constitution and the Mahabharata. According to Economic Times reports, Thakur mocked the opposition for their inability to answer basic questions about these subjects and criticized Gandhi for lacking understanding of the Mahabharata. He also urged Gandhi to read Tharoor’s literary work, which allegorizes Indian political figures, for more accurate historical and political insights.
