Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister Aman Arora called on panchayats to resolve disputes amicably and contribute to making their villages drug-free by joining the state’s “Nasha-Mukt Punjab Mission.” Arora was addressing the district-level oath-taking ceremony at Fakkar Baba Daamu Shah Sports Stadium in Luhara village, where he administered the oath to 2,486 newly elected panchayat members from 340 gram panchayats in Moga district.
Arora congratulated the newly elected members and urged them to transcend political factionalism for the broader development of their villages. He stressed the importance of involving citizens in decision-making to tackle local issues effectively. He also encouraged the panchayats to use available resources like MGNREGA funds to launch community projects and generate employment.
The minister highlighted the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts in improving health, education, and public welfare under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership. He emphasized the panchayats’ role in empowering local governance, allowing rural communities, especially women and marginalized groups, to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives.
Arora further noted that panchayats could help reduce reliance on the judicial system by addressing local conflicts, fostering social harmony, and ensuring that development initiatives meet the community’s needs.
