Amid continued disruptions, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed his deep frustration, highlighting the loss of critical working days and the negative impact on public service. Speaking to the members, Dhankhar pointed out that three working days had already been lost, depriving the public of the time meant for important discussions and the fulfillment of the oath to serve the people.
He emphasized that the frequent use of Rule 267 to disrupt proceedings was harming the functioning of the house. “Rule 267 is being weaponised as a mechanism for disruption,” Dhankhar remarked, calling it a serious concern from even senior members.
The Chairman expressed his anguish, stating that such actions were not only dishonoring the people of India but also diminishing the relevance of the Rajya Sabha in the eyes of the public. “We are creating a very bad precedent,” he added, criticizing the current state of affairs as “public distaste” and a source of ridicule.
Dhankhar urged members to reflect deeply on their actions and the damage caused by the ongoing disruptions.
