The White House expressed confidence in the resilience of US-India relations following the indictment of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani in New York over allegations of bribery and fraud. During her daily press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed questions about the charges against Adani, chairman of the Adani Group. “We are aware of these allegations, and I would have to refer you to the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and DOJ (Department of Justice) for specifics,” she said.
Despite the controversy, Jean-Pierre affirmed that the US-India partnership remains strong. “The relationship between the US and India stands on an extremely solid foundation, anchored in deep ties between our people and cooperation across a wide range of global issues,” she noted.
She also expressed optimism about the ability of the two nations to manage the situation. “We are confident that we will navigate this issue, as we have with others in the past. This relationship is built on enduring trust and collaboration,” Jean-Pierre added.
Adani’s indictment alleges his involvement in a multibillion-dollar bribery and fraud scheme. While US authorities continue to investigate, the White House reiterated its focus on broader bilateral ties rather than specific cases.
