Chandigarh, December 14

The Haryana government has suspended internet services in 12 villages of Ambala district to maintain peace during the farmers’ protest and their planned ‘Dilli Chalo’ march from the Shambhu border. The suspension will be in effect from 6 a.m. on December 14 to 11:59 p.m. on December 17, according to an order issued by Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home).

Mobile internet services, bulk SMS (excluding banking and mobile recharge), and all dongle services on mobile networks will remain suspended, except for voice calls, in the villages of Dangdehri, Lohgarh, Manakpur, Dadiyana, Bari Ghel, Choti Ghel, Lharsa, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar (Hira Nagar, Naresh Vihar), Saddopur, Sultanpur, and Kakru.

The move aims to prevent disturbances to peace and public order in these areas. Farmer leaders Jaswinder Singh Longowal and Malkit Singh Gulamiwala are set to lead the ‘Marjeevda Jatha,’ a group of 101 farmers participating in the protest.

Farmers have alleged that government agencies are attempting to sabotage their peaceful demonstrations and manipulate public sentiment against them. The ‘Dilli Chalo’ march continues to draw widespread attention amid rising tensions between authorities and farmer unions.
