In a significant move to streamline case management, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, a day after taking oath, banned oral mentions for urgent hearings. On Tuesday, CJI Khanna instructed advocates to submit their requests for emergency hearings via email or written slips, specifying the reasons for urgency. “No written or oral mentionings anymore. Only in email or written slip. Just state the reasons of urgency,” the CJI announced.
