(Shirala) Maharashtra, November 8
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will lose the upcoming assembly elections, just as Congress lost in Haryana. The Home Minister also criticised the National Conference (NC) and Congress for passing a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly advocating for the return of Article 370, which grants special status to the region. “Today, on the land of Sambhaji Maharaj, I want to tell Sharad Pawar, even if your four generations come, we will not let Article 370 be restored,” Shah said while speaking at a rally in poll-bound Maharashtra.
Union Home Minister lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for consistently fulfilling the promises made to the public, while criticizing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for cautioning party leaders about making future promises. Shah accused Congress leaders of making unrealistic commitments during elections, which they often fail to deliver.
He also took aim at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, accusing him of misleading the public by claiming that Maharashtra wasn’t receiving enough investment. “Under the leadership of Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis in the past two years, Maharashtra has attracted the highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country,” Shah said, countering Pawar’s claims.
Shah further criticized the Congress-led government for misusing the Wakf Act, which he said granted monopoly to the Wakf Board. Referring to a recent incident in Karnataka, where the Wakf Board declared several villages, temples, and farmers’ lands as Wakf properties, Shah warned that such actions would be repeated if the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government came to power in Maharashtra.
