Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 18th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) today, emphasizing the potential of Germany’s precision engineering and India’s scaling capabilities to forge extraordinary global partnerships. Speaking on the India-Germany collaboration, Goyal highlighted various sectors where both nations can thrive together, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology. “The synergies between India and Germany can drive unprecedented growth,” he stated.

Goyal underscored India’s strong macroeconomic fundamentals, reform, resilience, and readiness as essential for global businesses. He reiterated India’s commitment to combating climate change, recalling the nation’s engagement at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in 2015. “India is currently ranked 7th in the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) and is on track to exceed its nationally determined contributions (NDCs),” he said.

Expressing gratitude to the Asia Pacific Committee of German Business and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce for hosting the event, Goyal pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region is home to 60% of the world’s population. “By 2030, two-thirds of the global middle class will reside in Asia, providing fertile ground for businesses looking to expand,” he said.

The Minister stressed that the conference would serve as a platform to identify emerging trends, exchange best practices, and drive technological advancements. He expressed hope for deeper strategic partnerships between India and Germany that would yield real economic growth for both nations.

Quoting German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, Goyal encouraged participants to appreciate the richness of Indian culture during the festive season. He concluded his speech with a quote from Rabindranath Tagore, urging attendees to “create a future where products made, industries led, and innovations pioneered touch every corner of the globe.”
