Punjab Finance, Planning, and Excise Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to strengthening student-teacher-parent coordination through annual Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs), aimed at securing a brighter future for students in government schools. Speaking at Mega PTMs in Dirba and Mahalan, Cheema highlighted the importance of these meetings in reviewing students’ physical and mental development.
Cheema praised the state’s efforts, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, to elevate education standards. He pointed to the Business Blaster program, which encourages government school students to explore entrepreneurship. Cheema commended students for showcasing uniforms and products created through entrepreneurial skills during the event, and purchasing items himself to support the initiative.
He added that Mega PTMs help identify and address issues within schools, with the government committed to making public institutions superior to private ones. Cheema encouraged students to work hard, expressing confidence that they can excel nationally and internationally in various fields.
Cheema also praised the government’s efforts to improve school infrastructure and train teachers abroad to enhance educational reforms. He was joined by local officials, including Chairman of Improvement Trust Pritam Singh Peetu and SDM Rajesh Sharma.
