India and China have reached an agreement to resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), resulting in disengagement in the disputed border areas. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the development during a press conference, highlighting the recent diplomatic and military negotiations between the two nations.

Misri stated that Indian and Chinese officials have been in close contact over the past several weeks, engaging in discussions across various platforms. This collaborative effort has led to an agreement on the patrolling arrangements along the LAC, effectively addressing issues that emerged in the region since 2020.

In addition to the border agreement, Misri mentioned ongoing discussions regarding payments and settlement systems within the BRICS framework. However, he clarified that no final agreement has been reached on that front.

On the diplomatic front, Misri reaffirmed India’s support for a two-state solution regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, just ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to Kazan for the BRICS summit. He noted that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been invited by President Putin to attend the summit, underscoring the importance of the issue on the international stage.
