The Indian Cricket Team, led by Rohit Sharma, etched its name in Test Cricket history as it became the only team to score the fastest 50, 100 and 200 runs. This took place in Kanpur on September 30, in a match against Bangladesh.

The partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma set a new world record for the highest run rate in a 50-run stand, scoring 55 runs at an astonishing 14.34 runs per over. This explosive performance ended when Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled Rohit for a rapid 23 off just 11 balls. The duo’s record-breaking pace surpassed the previous mark set by England’s Ben Stokes and Ben Duckett, who scored 87 runs at a rate of 11.86 runs per over last year.

After Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, Shubman Gill came into play and, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, brought stability to the game. Their strategy helped India reach the 100 run mark in just 10.1 overs, besting a record India themselves set last year against the West Indies by reaching the 100 run mark in 12.2 overs.

Despite regular wickets falling, the team stayed aggressive. After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal, Rishabh Pant kept up the momentum but was out at 159. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then guided India past 200 in 24.2 overs, breaking Australia’s 2017 record of 28.1 overs.
