Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sideline of the Summit of the Future in New York. Both leaders reflected on Modi’s recent visit to Ukraine, expressing satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine was a central topic, with Modi reiterating India’s stance in favor of a peaceful resolution through diplomacy and dialogue. Modi reaffirmed India’s willingness to support efforts to achieve a lasting and peaceful resolution, emphasizing the need for engagement between all stakeholders.
“We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Reiterated India’s support for early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability,” Prime Minister Modi said on X (formerly Twitter).
Zelenskyy echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of their cooperation on international platforms like the United Nations and G20, and emphasizing India’s clear support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts to implement Ukraine’s Peace Formula and preparations for the second Peace Summit.
“We are actively developing our relations and working together to strengthen cooperation across various fields,” Zelenskyy said in his post on X.
The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact as efforts continue to foster peace in the region.
