Russia has revoked the accreditation of six British diplomats stationed in Moscow, accusing them of espionage and sabotage, the country’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Friday. The move comes amid rising tensions between Moscow and Western nations over the ongoing war in Ukraine.
President Vladimir Putin issued a stark warning, stating that NATO would be drawn into direct conflict with Russia if Western countries permitted Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike deep within Russian territory. The FSB further alleged that British diplomats were actively working to secure Moscow’s defeat in the 30-month conflict, the UK-based news outlet Independent reported.
According to the FSB, it has documents indicating that a British Foreign Office department in London was coordinating efforts to escalate the political and military situation, with the aim of ensuring Russia’s strategic defeat in the Ukraine war.
