Shah Rukh Khan, the iconic “King of Romance,” shared his experience working with female directors in a resurfaced interview on social media. The superstar expressed his preference for working with women directors, stating that they bring a more sensitive and nuanced approach compared to men, who tend to compartmentalize their emotions.

“I enjoy working with women because of their sensitivity. Women are more nuanced and overarching in their storytelling,” Shah Rukh explained. He also acknowledged the work of celebrated male directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar, and Mani Ratnam, but emphasized that films directed by women often have a distinct aesthetic. “Their films look nicer, they smell nicer, and they laugh more,” he humorously added.

Khan also mentioned that he feels more in touch with his feminine side, preferring conversations over guns and fighting.

Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s comedy-drama Dunki, which tackled the issue of illegal migration. The film starred Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal. He is reportedly set to star in King, alongside his daughter Suhana Khan, with a release date set for 2026.
