Sanjay Roy, the accused in the horrific rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, has been described as a “pervert” with a severe addiction to pornography. According to media reports citing a CBI officer, Roy exhibited “animal-like instincts” and showed no remorse during interrogation for the brutal crime.
The psychoanalytic profiling of Roy revealed his disturbing tendencies, with the CBI noting that he did not display any remorse for the murder that has shocked the nation. The news agency quoting the CBI officer highlighted that Roy’s behavior during questioning was devoid of any regret, reported Hindustan Times.
Investigators found multiple pornographic clips on Roy’s mobile phone. Technical and scientific evidence has confirmed his presence at the crime scene. CCTV footage captured him near the chest department of the hospital at 11 am on August 8 and re-entering the building at 4 am on August 9. The victim’s time of death is estimated to be between 3 am and 5 am on August 9.
Despite the gravity of his actions, Roy recounted the details of the crime to investigators without hesitation. “The man showed no repentance and narrated the entire episode, giving every minute detail without hiccups. It appeared he had no remorse,” the CBI officer said, according to Hindustan Times.
The victim, a Kolkata doctor, was attacked while resting in the hospital’s seminar hall during a 36-hour shift. Her post-mortem report revealed she was raped and severely beaten, suffering 16 external and nine internal injuries. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation.
Roy was apprehended a day after the crime, with CCTV evidence showing him entering the building around the time of the murder. His Bluetooth headphones were also discovered near the crime scene. The CBI is investigating whether a larger conspiracy was involved in the victim’s death and has questioned former RG Kar Medical College principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, over several days. They are also considering polygraph tests for Roy, Dr. Ghosh, and others. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police are probing financial irregularities against Dr. Ghosh, the CBI officer told the news agency, the media reports said.
