Pocso Court Awards Life Imprisonment to Six in 1992 Ajmer Rape Cases

A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) court in Jaipur has sentenced six individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in the 1992 Ajmer rape cases, where over 100 female students were blackmailed and sexually assaulted using explicit photographs. The court pronounced the Judgement on Tuesday, The Hindustan Times reported. Justice Ranjan Singh also imposed a ₹5 lakh fine on each of the convicted individuals. The accused were found guilty under sections 376 (rape) and 120b (conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in July, according to prosecution lawyer Virendra Singh.

“The court has awarded life sentences to six accused in the 1992 Ajmer rape cases and imposed a ₹5 lakh fine on each. Sixteen victims testified in court,” the prosecution lawyer said.
