An advocate’s humorous yet pointed inquiry about IndiGo’s “Cute Fee” has captured the attention of social media users and sparked a lively debate. As per news outlet The Hindustan Times, Shrayansh Singh, the advocate in question, took to X (formerly Twitter) to question the airline’s charges, asking whether the fee was for passengers “being cute” or if it was because the airline considered its planes “cute.” Singh also expressed his outrage over other charges like the “User Development Fee” and “Aviation Security Fee.”
IndiGo responded by clarifying that the “Cute Fee” refers to the “Common User Terminal Equipment” charge, which covers the use of airport equipment such as metal detectors and escalators. However, Singh wasn’t satisfied with this explanation, questioning why such costs aren’t covered by taxes already paid by the public. The exchange has since gone viral, with users weighing in on both sides of the debate, some mocking the additional charges and others explaining that these fees are standard practice in the airline industry.
