New Delhi, August 12

In a significant development after the release of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court on Monday agreed to consider a plea of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging a Delhi High Court order. The High Court had upheld Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI in connection with a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The Delhi High Court on August 5 ruled that the Chief Minister’s arrest was lawful and that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) acted without malice. The court noted that Kejriwal’s arrest enabled witnesses, who might have been otherwise intimidated, to come forward and testify.
