Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has no plans to leave India, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy revealed in an interview with Deutsche Welle, a German-based international broadcaster. Joy said that Hasina is currently in Delhi and is in good health, though she is very upset. His sister, who lives in Delhi, is with her, he added.

In the interview, which was uploaded to Deutsche Welle’s Facebook page, Joy expressed his mother’s deep sadness. “She is heartbroken that her father sacrificed his life for the country, and the entire family endured so much loss. She dedicated herself to the country, enduring imprisonment and working tirelessly to make significant progress. To now be insulted, expelled, and attacked by the people of this country is beyond anything we could have imagined,” Joy shared.

Tensions have escalated in Bangladesh, with local media reporting the discovery of 29 bodies, including Awami League leaders, across the country. Discussing his mother’s resignation, Joy mentioned that the decision was made a day earlier but had not been announced.

Joy also dismissed any plans to enter politics himself. “This is the third time our family has faced a coup. For the third time, we have had to live abroad, losing everything. Apart from my mother and me, our family has been abroad for a long time. We are settled here and have no difficulties in life. We are accustomed to living here,” he concluded.
